Put a smile on that face

There is this book I have.  It’s called “14,000 things to be happy about”.  It’s written by a woman who, over a span of twenty years documented things from her day to day life that made her smile.

Now, I’ve never actually read it page for page, but I love opening it to a random page at random times and just reading a few sentences.  It always brings a smile to my face, and whenever someone needs cheering up, I give it to them.  Never fails.  It’s pure genius, and I sure as hell would never be able to think up a list of that multitude.  It’s funny because the ones that make absolutely no sense, it’s for that reason that they still make you laugh when you think of them.

For example, page 192 tells us we should be happy for ‘soft snow gathered into clotted masses like cotton batting entangled in the grass’.

Venice, Italy is a place we should be happy for according to page 329.

‘Dozens of places to curl up with a book’ is the last item of the book, and that is the one thing that will make me happy for all of time.

I’ve never really thought about it, but ‘the position of your head as you bite into a taco’ is pretty funny.

As much as I just wanted to tell you about the book, I am going somewhere with this.  I am not sure if it’s in the book somewhere and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was, but the other day I was driving down the street and saw this:

Santa on a motorcycle is definitely something that made me smile.  His license plate read ‘St Nic’ and there were presents and toys tied to every open area on the bike.  It was something to see, but more to see that he was totally enjoying himself, in spite of the 20 degree weather.  It was awesome.

That makes me LOL! Wish I could have seen that in person. I think I bought that book for you as a Christmas present many years ago. This would be a good theme to blog about every day…hint hint.

Piggybacking off Capri Deb’s comment, yes, it could be a theme, at least a once a week-er. Like “Where I stand Sunday”. Hmmmmm……

I love that idea. And I LOVE the picture of Santa. Just adorable. And a little crazy considering it’s Michigan.
